Institutional Review Board (IRB) Committee
The purpose of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) is to review funded grant proposals by
Shaw faculty, staff, and students to ensure that proposed researchers will treat all human
research participants ethically, responsibly and according to federal regulations and
Shaw’s Federal-wide Assurance (FWA).
Currently, the Carolina-Shaw Partnership for the Elimination of Health Disparities grant
provides funding for the development of an IRB and training of its committee members,
chair, and administrator. The IRB Committee is composed of the following members:
