The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Shaw University are
collaborating in the establishment of a Center of Excellence in Minority Health
Disparities Research. This Center of Excellence is 1 of 26 Centers nationally,
funded by the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities. The
Carolina-Shaw Partnership is funded at 6 million dollars over a five year period
(2002-2007). The Carolina-Shaw Partnership for the Elimination of Health
Disparities represents an academic entity in partnership with community
organizations that will increase the number and skill level of researchers
conducting minority health disparity research thus leading to the elimination of
health disparities.
